Music is the art of arranging sounds in time, so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative (expressive) composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre (tonal quality of any sound). With this perception, one must understand that this definition stands to be the point of view of one individual, or a small group of people. You’re probably saying, “Well, I just learned something. I did not know that you could put what I felt into words that intelligently. Wow!” Another may say, “I already knew that, but what does that really have to do with what I feel inside.” Yes, I would agree with that. The definition may be good enough to teach to class of youngsters in middle school, but music actually has an unlimited source of meanings. I say this because yes, we rap, sing, and play instruments, projecting a particular sound that brings some relief inside. But yet, even after we have performed, via shower or on stage, there is still a hunger inside that we are compelled to satisfy. So, what is this thing we call music really all about?
What is Music to you?
Here is a question which requires an answer: What is music to you? Matter of fact, before you even read a second further, I am going to pause for about thirty seconds to let you ponder on this question. The time is starting now. Again, I say what is music to you? Is it a LOVE or a LUST? Is it a relationship, or a one night stand? Is it total satisfaction, meaning does it go further than just a feeling, or it is just like a nut (ejaculation)? After all the build up, did the results not quite match your expectations, or did it just did not last long enough? What is it to you? When it comes to your relationship with music, are you able to offer your musical expression without expecting anything in return, or are you so emotionally driven that you are willing to say and do anything to get .25 of a second of popular time?
When you have a love for something, such as music, you are willing to sacrifice your life for that which you endear. With this type of love comes pain, comfortless days and nights, disappointment, joy, satisfaction. There are times when you get no respect, and it appears that everyone is getting air time but you. You suffer through days, weeks, and months of low income, working to take care of yourself, and sometimes your family. These conditions limit the time you allot yourself to follow your dream, and prompts you to ask yourself, “Why me?” Why not you? This type of sentiment brings limited satisfaction and compromise that wants to come alive within in you that can cause you to reach a breaking point 방콕밤문화.
One thing I have come to understand is that everything has a breaking point. This point limits the length of time that brought about the discomfort and pain. Eventually, the struggle comes to an end, and the emergence of comfort and release unfolds. Take for example, a woman with child. A child is in the womb for 9-10 months. During this process, the woman endures a lot of painful days; while on the other hand, some days are not so bad. In time, the period of distress ends, and the child comes forth. Up until that moment, the child has completed its maturity cycle as a fetus, and the process of life is brought forth. Just as this process of growth and release, there is a hunger for music that has no words to explain it. We have been deprived of music that brings a lasting connection. In an essence, the world is starving in desperation for someone to know who they are. Along with this desperation the starving artists of the world want to gain the confidence of a sound that’s relevant. So where do we go from here?
Where is Music At?
I will give acknowledgment where it due, and the simple fact that you are reading this passage, leads me to the conclusion that you love what you do. Give yourselves a hand or a pat on the back, or whatever you like to do to motivate yourself! But let me ask you a question: Does your music have the potential to leave a legacy? If so, will your musical legacy have enough character to influence future generations to come in a productive manner? Currently, music is at a standstill. The music industry is in a confused state. Simply put, it does not know what the hell it wants to do. On flip side, there is an open door. Opportunity is all around you. Seize the moment!
Where is Music Going?
The question presented clearly depends upon you, the artist. So where is music going? What will be your influence? The world has had enough! There must be a foundation before you go any further. There must be some sort of direction, goals, or balance in your life. There must be accountability within yourself understanding that what you say creates a world or interpretation for someone. There must be an understanding that it’s more than just you. It’s your kids, their kids, and their kids’ kids that will be affected base on what you say. Life is in your hands, and mouth, so use them accordingly.
In order to Hustle hard, which basically means to aggressively go forth with the determination, stopping at nothing to accomplish a goal, you must have a foundation of values and direction. Remember there is a melody within us that is hungering to develop outside.
